Helpful Tips For Improving Fitness Levels

A fit body feels and looks great. That is why many people go to great lengths to boost their fitness levels. There are many strategies for improving your fitness, but first, it is important to define what a fit body looks like. A fit body has a healthy muscle mass and little or no fat masses spread throughout the body. A fit person also has a remarkable endurance level. Think of a triathlon or marathon athlete as opposed to a bodybuilder. As you can see, there are three aspects of a fit body; endurance, low fat and more muscle. Therefore, the following three tips will help boost your fitness level:

i) Change Your Diet

A poor diet is to blame for your dismal fitness level. The most important change you can make, therefore, is to change your diet. Avoid all kinds of junk foods, processed foods, alcoholic beverages, refined products and sugars. Be sure to also mind the amount of carbohydrates in your meals. Do not exceed your body’s calorie requirement as the excess carbs and sugars will be converted to fat and stored in the body. Furthermore, you should increase your protein portions as well as fruit and vegetable portions. In addition to that, be sure to drink a lot of water frequently. You total daily water consumption should be at least 8 glasses.

ii) Train With Weights to Increase Muscle Mass

A fit body must have bigger and stronger muscles. The only way to build your muscle is to exercise. After all, muscle growth is only an adaptation to the surroundings. When you lift weights regularly, the body will adapt to the new environment by increasing the length and girth of each muscle strand in the affected muscle group. Consequently, your strength will increase. Be sure to perform exercises that work all the different muscle groups from your neck and shoulders to your thigh and leg muscles. Ideally, you should weight-train at least thrice a week for best results.

iii) Perform Cardio Workouts to Improve Endurance

Have you ever wondered why the most muscular people in the world cannot run long distance? Well, it’s because they have low endurance. Most bodybuilders normally concentrate on building and toning their muscles. The end result is a hulk-like figure that is characteristic of professional bodybuilders. To obtain these magnificent results, however, bodybuilders normally compromise on endurance. Before you embark on your fitness journey, be sure to state your mission. Is it to build muscle or to become fitter. If the latter is your goal, then you need to balance between cardio and weight training exercises. In fact, you can overlook the two in favor of high intensity interval training (HIIT). You can cycle, run or swim during the HIIT exercises to truly become fitter and stronger.
