What’s In A Name?

Don’t forget to pay attention to naming conventions you use in directories, filenames, and images. Spiders do look at these, and while some may add more weight than others, every little bit can make the difference.
 
Directories

www.mydomain.com/products is not going to be as good as www.mydomain.com/fly_fishing if one of your target keywords is ‘fishing’.
 
Filenames

www.mydomain.com/products/product1.htm is not going to be as good as www.mydomain.com/fly_fishing/fishingrods.htm if one of your target keywords is ‘fishing rods’.
 
Images

Finally, image1.gif tells a spider nothing, while fishing_rod.gif certainly implies that it has something to do with fishing.
